Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far back do your photo archives go?

A: Generally mapping project photography is archived for ten years.

Stock photo archives for Maricopa County, Arizona, date back to 1985. Contact the photo lab at 602-258-6471 or e-mail, Harry Hiller, Photo Lab Manager, for your needs.

Q: How can I order digital aerial photos?

A: We can scan any of our photography into digital formats. Our scanners are state of the art equipment and produce the highest quality output. Contact the Marketing Department at 602-258-6471 or e-mail Jonathan Reynolds for complete information.

Q: Why should I choose aerial photography over satellilte images?

A: Aerial photography is superior to satellite photography for seeing fine detail due to the exceptional resolution of our mapping cameras and the relatively low flying height that our photography is taken from. In most cases, our photography can be scanned to .3 (3/10ths) foot pixels (sometimes even smaller!) while most satellite pixels are far larger. Satellite photos may be better for extremely large areas to be covered with low resolution.

Q: How much does it cost to map or get a photo of my project?

A: Each mapping project has a special set of needs and all jobs are done on a custom basis. To determine the cost, call the Marketing Department at 602-258-6471 or e-mail John Cahoon for your mapping project needs.

Each photographic enlargement is done on a custom basis, to order. For pricing, call the photo lab at 602-258-6471 or e-mail Harry Hiller, Photo Lab Manager, for your photographic enlargement needs.

Q: What kind of film do you use?

A: We use AGFA films and papers for most of our photography. See the Cameras and Film web page and the Photo Lab web page for specific information.
